Significant difference from LeftHand 12.5 reported storage used space and vSphere client datastore used space

Hi at all, I have a two nodes cluster made of two esxi 5.5 u2 hosts (clustered with vCenter) with a virtual centralized storage managed by HP LeftHandOS 12.5 Appliances.

Making it simple, vSphere shows a used space in the Datastore (that is on the volume of the virtual centralized storage) of 1200GB. CMC, the management console of HP LeftHandOS, shows instead an used storage space of 800GB.

My vdisks are all thick lazy zeroed disks. As hypothesis I can suppose that this type of disk is "full provisioned" from ESXi perspective but not for LeftHandOS. Maybe that eager zeroed, instead, would make this counters consistent between them?

I have already asked to an HP storage support engineer and he says that the CMC shows the actual consumed space and to ask to VMware experts why is there this difference.

I hope you can help me to better understand the logic behind this apparent inconsistence.

Thank you

Francesco B.
