Re-adding ESXi host after re-installing

Hello,

I had to re-install ESXi (without deleting VMs) on a host so after reinstalling it, I've disconnected the ESXi host from vCenter and attempted to re-add it to vCenter however, I got the

"Datastore conflicts with an existing datastore in the datacenter that has the same URL" error.

ESXi uses a local storage so the VMs reside locally on the host. 

Is there a way to re-add the ESXi host to vCenter without having to rebuild the datastore?  I prefer not having to move all the VMs off of the host if it requires deleting the datastore and starting over.  The version is 5.5.
