Is there any issue creating a Windows mirror at the guest level. I am using Server 2008 R2 and have ESXi 5.5. The mirror would be setup on a separate datastore on a separate SSD.
I have done some testing, and the mirror appears to work, but it doesn't mirror the vmx file, so if I loose the original data store, I loose the vmx. Would that crash the VM ?
Any other issues that I should look at ? CPU hit ( I believe it is very small) ?
I've played with some hardware RAID, but the performance hit on the SSD is too much, I need the RAW speed of the SSDs so took out the hardware RAID and now looking at mirroring in the guest level.
